Whether you are a distance parent or a parent who loves a child who has a distance parent, we want to hear what you have to say!

DistanceParent.org is all about you, the parents who strive to make distance parenting work and their kids. Maybe your distance parenting situation is struggling. Maybe it's doing well. Maybe it's just started.

The fact of the matter is, distance parenting isn't something that there is a whole lot of information out there about. We at DistanceParent.org want to hear about it all! The good, the bad and the ugly. What works and what doesnt.

So write about anything related to distant parenting - it can be things you've tried, things you have trouble with, things you feel or things the child has experienced. If youre not sure what you want to write - but would like to submit something, try answering some or all of these questions :

  • What role do you play in a long distance parenting relatinship?
  • How long have you been involved in this long distance parenting relationship?
  • In your opinion, is the long distance parent in the relationship a part of the day to day life of the child?
  • What makes that so?
  • What are some long distance activities that the long distance parent and the child do together?
  • What have been the biggest challenges in that long distance parenting relationship?
  • What kind of visitation routine does that long distance parent relationship include? (Internet visitation, in-person visitation, phone calls, letters, etc)
  • How old was the child when the long distance parent became long distance?
  • How has the child's age affected the long distance parenting relationship?
  • What are some ways that the non-long distance parent keeps the long distance parent's presence in the day to day life of the child?
  • What are some tokens or momentos that the long distance parent and the child share?
  • What else sticks out to you about your long distance parenting relationship that wasnt mentioned here?

Then send it in. Submitting an article is easy! Submissions can be in MS Word, text (notepad) or html. Include the name that you would like to have on the article and any contact information you would like to have on it (ie: email address). Then email it to : carrie at distanceparent dot 0rg (remove spaces and replace words with appropriate symbols).

We reserve the editorial right over submitted content, however, the author will be notified of any changes to the content and the author retains the copyright over the original submission and the edited version.
